I had my second set of beta levels drawn yesterday and got the results this afternoon. My number went from 212 on Friday to 585.67 yesterday. The RE (reproductive endocrinologist) says these are perfect numbers! I will have another blood draw on Monday and then an ultrasound the following week to determine if I’m carrying one baby or two (and to my friend who says it’s three….you know who you are and shame on you!) So far all is going just as it should be. I’ll keep you posted on Monday!
Well the 2ww is finally over! Thank goodness…waiting is the worst part, (although I will admit now that I cheated a bit and took a home pregnancy test every morning starting on Monday through Friday!). I had my labs drawn on Friday morning, Sept. 9th and a few hours later I got the call that YES, I AM PREGNANT!! Any beta number over 50 is pregnant and mine was 212.75! With my first surrogacy, a singleton, my level on 10dp5dt (10 days post 5 day transfer, meaning the embryos were 5 days old when transferred to my uterus) was 49, on 10dp5dt with the twins I carried, my beta level was 163. Could this mean twins again?! Have to wait a couple weeks before we have an ultrasound to find out. By the way I’m feeling (ridiculously tired!!) compared to my twin pregnancy and with numbers that high, let’s just say that I won’t be surprised if two little fetuses are staring at me on the day of my ultrasound! Oh…and you can see that when I started taking the home pregnancy tests on Monday, they instantly came back positive every single day. So I cheated….I couldn’t take it anymore people!!
Ok….here it is. FINALLY. I wanted to start a blog back in 2008 when I began my first surrogacy journey and somehow, just never got around to doing it (possibly because I had three little boys ages 4 and younger at the time?!). People always have so many questions about my life as a surrogate, so this seemed like the obvious option for telling my story. Now, two surrogacies later, I’m finally making the time for it and wow, have I ever learned a lot over the course of two years and two surrogacies. I’m here to share the good, the bad and the ugly of my experiences. It’s the real deal. I will also be sharing about my wonderful family and the day to day joys and challenges we experience.
